Have you ever heard something along this line – if only the Feds would do this or if only the State would do that, I could be a success? Don’t look to either Washington or the State to get the economic engine going. Stop thinking about what someone else should do. Look within and ask, how can I make things better? For over fifteen years, the Hampton Roads Entrepreneur Rick Lally has asked himself this same question. Unlike most, he has taken action, sometimes with success and sometimes with failure.
Now as the Director of Innovate!HamptonRoads™ he has the opportunity to foster “..locally-grown business, technology-based economic development in Hampton Roads, Virginia.” A program of the Hampton Roads Partnership , Innovate!HamptonRoads™, has the distinct advantage of having access to resources which include a Board comprised of over 70 of the region’s business who’s who. Under Rick’s leadership, the program has aggressively moved forward to promote efforts such as Economic Gardening.
Based upon the belief that growth companies drive economies, the Economic Gardening program selects companies with high growth potential to receive a “…suite of high-end, high-speed business resources..” In 2011 four tech companies were selected to participate. In addition to other existing programs, Innovate!HamptonRoads™, looks forward to adding new programs such as a Venture Capital Fund. With the eventual ability to fund up to one million dollars in Venture Capital for promising companies will have a significant impact on the Hampton Roads, Virginia region. Innovate!HamptonRoads™, has been and is answering US Senator Mark Warner’s December 2011 call to action.
Join us, On the Road in Hampton Roads as we sit down with Rick Lally, to see hear what the Hampton Roads Partnership has to offer for both beginning and seasoned Entrepreneurs.
